My Maison Martin Margiela Shoulder Padded Jacket

JUST MY LUCK! I've been dying for a Maison Martin Margiela piece and on Saturday at Century 21 I found an MMM SP09 black, shoulder padded maxi coat!I dropped everything and put it on...The jacket was so SICK! I had to have it, especially at the unbelievable price of $200. Anyway, ran to the register and got it..Showed it to Maury and my friend Yen and they gagged. Yen suggested tailoring the jacket into a blazer.. I like the idea but I need help in making the decision..Should I keep it a maxi coat or should I make it into a more wearable blazer? Let me know what you think!

The image above shows the white version of the black MMM jacket. Its very long and I can wear it easily with heels. No idea when I'm going to wear it but I will most certainly do a mini shoot tonight to show you guys how it looks..can't wait!! Oh, and I was invited to the MMM sample sale tomorrow, which I put a bit of money aside for, but I doubt I will find this piece at that price..Maury and I will let you know tomorrow how it went :-)

Below is the short version of the jacket..

  3. DEAR GOD you are so lucky!! I would love to see pictures of it most definitely. Keep it at it's length because it's different; if you get bored of it, make it into a blazer later ;)

The jacket is fabulous. If I were you I would keep the way it is. I can't wait to see the jacket on you. Have fun at the sample sale tomorrow, and let me know how it goes.
Have a nice day to you and Maury.

  6. Hi Gisela,
thanks for your sweet comment on my blog!
Congrats on your fab MMM find! By experience with some longer MM items: Don't shorten them. I'm using some designs of MMM since 5 or more years, thought about to shorten some of them as well, but today I'm happy of this unique and GREAT look!
    Will check back often!!

  11. I'd say keep it as a maxi as well. In my experience (and this is based on the Paris market), finding the short version in outlets really isn't that hard. I've seen quite a few recently - most of them in white. Congrats on your new coat!
