This picture is sooo very jakandjil! Our dearest Torontonian gal pal, who hails from Malaysia, is in NYC this week working on a highly coveted fashion shoot that, for now, will remain top secret (let's just say Asian beauties model-of-the-moment TAO and no-holds-barred veteran model MEI, are involved.) Yen is not only excited about being recommended for the gig by our brilliant fashion stylilst boy-pal Fernando, but she's elated to see Maury and I. We have so much fun together!
Gisela wears faux goat fur coat at LF Stores, Urban Outfitters pocket tee, F21 ripped black jeans, Chanel Jumbo flap in caviar leather, and YSL short "Tribute" boots.
Maury wears Jill Stuart leather jacket with faux goat fur vest at LF Stores, beaded vintage top, ripped jeans from Soho Store, YSL tall "Tribute" boots and Givenchy bag.
Yen wears Phi fur collar jacket, AA leggings, Marni shoes and Burberry Tote bag.
Maury and I also took this opportunity to show off our newly purchased YSL Tribute boots, which both Nini and Hanh, the Ninistyle girls, fashionably sport continuously, whilst making it look effortless. Maury has been obssessed with these since their debut on the runway last year. Not willing to pay retail, as we usually refuse to, we decided to hold out for a better deal. Our hopes were dwindingling once we noticed that not only were the boots sold out in stores but conspicuous replicas starting showing up on ebay, thus, throwing a major monkey wrench in our plans. But, due to Maury's impeccable research skills and severe determination, she learned that the YSL outlet at Woodbury Common not only had a few "YSL Tributes" left, but they were on sale with an extra 15% off! We jetted there (a 45 minute drive from NYC) and immediately purchased them for a cool $419 after taxes! Mission accomplished!
I had the arduous task of deciding where to dine Sunday night with the girls and more so, impress our Malaysian darling who visits us sporadically. Initially we were going to try to get into the tight doors at the Beatrice Inn (Chloe Sevingny's brother's, Paul, trendy spot) until I found out they have been shut down for violations. (Hipsters all over Manhattan are most definitely fuming.) Next I called Balthazar's for a table and there was only one available at 10:30pm. I made the reservation but there was no way I was going to be away from my infant son that late. So finally, I thought to myself I haven't been to Cipriani's Soho in a long, long time. Last time I went there was 1998 where, after consuming a few classic Cipriani Bellini's, I accidentlally bumped into a drunk, post-surgery, model-toting Mickey Rourke. I figured, let's see if Cipri's is still as much of a hot-spot as it was back then. And guess what? It still is..
Our trend-setting, cutie, Fernando joined us too. As usual, Maury and I were running late but our guests had already nabbed seats by the window. It was definitely chilly sitting by the door, so I asked the host to seat us at a different table. While our table was being readied, and during idle chat amongst us four, we hear a knock on the window..and there he is, in all his splendor, our revered, Vogue Paris Editor-In-Chief's, Carine Roitfeld's model son, Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld! Needless to say we were in awe. After getting over the shock, we realized he was taking pics of Fernando's do'! Vladimir kept motioning to Fernando to turn profile so he can capture certain angles..He then walked into the restaurant and charismatically gave Fernando a strong handshake and thanked him for allowing him to take his picture. All Fernando kept saying was " I love your mother!" lol

Finally we were moved to a table less frigid and turns out Vladimir and his lil' crew were seated right behind us. At one point I went to the restroom and when I returned Maury excitedly tells me that Vladimir was admiring her ostentatious rings from his table. He gave her a cool heads up and showed her his rings too. She was floored! All this made-up for the blah food.
Fernando is quite a modest person but very well-known in the industry and very much accomplished as a fashion maven. Here he is, sporting some amazing Marni sunglasses that were gifted to him by his well-renown Vogue Russia, Style Editor boss-man, Simon Robbins. He's wearing a very cool vintage blazer, Balmain tee, which he complained about buying at Jeffrey's since it was too costly for what it really was, and some amazing Rick Owen pants. I took a pic of his do', you can't really see it here, but he had a cute lil', sumo-wrestler style pony tail.
After a great night full of cute surprises and great company, we decided to head out, but not before taking some pics of our outfits and accessories for our readers to enjoy.
Accessories, close-up!
