So I've officially moved to Jersey, even though to me it's not really Jersey because I'm literally 1 stop on the Path Train from the World Trade Center Area, nevertheless I'm an Uptown Girl turned Jersey Girl. I'm still in the process of decorating and arranging the apartment but, of course, the first order of business was my closet. After a lot of effort and tons of purging I was able to condense my wardrobe to the items that I will always love and use. It was a difficult task and very hard to let go of, for example, a beautiful DVF wrap dress, a Michael & Hushi one of a kind piece, some Catherine Malandrino tops and tons of items that still had tags on them. This was a good lesson for me, I learned to stop buying on impulse, especially trendy pieces. I also learned that, like Nini, I will continue to invest in classic, well-made items that will have a long lasting presence in my wardrobe.
Let's start with my shoe closet, which is my inspiration for even getting up in the morning, LOL!
Then there is my wardrobe..
I try to keep all my shoe boxes and dust bags, especiallly since I'm gonna do the ebay thing soon. I will keep you guys posted on that for sure..
During this massive purging, I found a top, which I'd picked up about 2 years ago from one of Toronto's cool vintage shops on Kensington Market. I don't know exactly why I was attracted to this piece, I think I loved the sharp shoulders, the interesting tribal pattern and the structure of it. Although its an interesting top, I have no idea how to style it and better yet, I don't even know if I should keep it. I need you guys to help me decide wether I should get rid of it, or salvage it and make something of it. What do you guys think??
Here I am wearing it backwards..

Hello girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for passing by at my blog! I am in love for your shoes and closet! Do I see some Louboutins??? Oh my!!! So lucky! Those are amazing! I am planning to afford a pair in my trip to Paris...but only next year :))
You are fantastic, you know?
Hope to see you soon!
a kiss and a hug,
Kira
Thanks for the comment! Your shoe collection is enviable! I don't think I can look at it any longer. I don't know why but you and your style reminds me of Amber Rose in a good way, I think it's your fierce style. The diesel boots are amazing, that's why I think the model looks better than Alexa Chung. :)
ReplyDeleteYOU SHOULD KEEP IT!! with that amazing wardrobe im sure you are gonna find something for it.

your closet looks the way i wish mine did. and that military jacket looks fantastic. as for the green top, it's definitely a conversation piece, unsure how i would style it though..
ReplyDeleteI think you and I should trade shoe closets, lol - great post!
ReplyDeleteSooo jealous of your closet space. My closet is about the size of a small coffin. It's heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteAnd that top is totally bitchin. You should totally keep it. Or give it to me;)
Your closet looks great!!!! I can't wait to see what you have to put for sale. :)

Love your wardrobe and shoe closet! I definitely need more closet space so I can be more organized... currently my shoes have taken over the spare bedroom... sigh.
ReplyDeleteI really like that green top. I think you need to pair it with something structured, either very tailored pants or a sharp-cut skirt. I wouln't use black, but perhaps white. I think if you find or have something inspired by Margiela or Balenciaga to go with it you're all set. I'd also pair it with very structured/architectural edgier shoes. I think that top is great for an outfit that has a sharp silhouette.
I WOULD DIE FOR YOUR CLOSET!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you live? ...I probably go to steal your some shoes... =)
