Maury is thinking PINK

Since I been out of the loop, let me just refresh your memory on what I've been working on. First of all, renovating a 3 bedroom apartment has become a very lengthy process that was not anticipated especially when you are in a tight budget.

Now, you must be thinking, why does Maury have a 3 bedroom apt just for herself? When most people in NYC have tiny shoe boxes. Well let me tell you, space is luxury in NYC and I am blessed to have it and I am going to take advantage of it and do the best I can with it. This would be a work in progress for many months and perhaps a couple years. Let me break down the space for you...the three bedrooms I have I will make one my master bedroom, the smaller one my walk in closet that is about 150 square feet and the other room a Studio for my fashion and interior design obsession. There, I will store my industrial sewing machines and have an office area along with a cutting table. I will show you pics after I move in and start decorating it.

I have always had an interest in architecture and interior design. I loved architecture so much that I went to Italy to study it for a semester and was enamored by every aspect of it. Right now, all I can think about besides fashion is Interior Design and Architecture. I wanted to share with you all some images that are inspirational to me in the process of building my new sanctuary.

Here are some images of model Jessica Stam's Village apartment designed by Rafael de Cardenas of Architecture at Large. I love the moorish style door, it look amazing and serves as the focal point in the room.

I love the simplicity of this living room...from the lucite table to the beautiful long drapes to the mid century chairs. It conveys a wonderful relaxed and glamorous mood.

This wallpaper and chaise is to die for. If I can only find a chaise like this to put in my bedroom or closet.

I love this credenza. I am looking for one similar to this one for my living room.

MY NEW OBSESSION: THE COLOR PINK

As one of my muses and style icons once said:" PINK is the Navy Blue of India" Diana Vreeland,

I am feeling so PINK lately, that I can't get enough!!! As soon as you walk in to my apartment there is a small hallway which I want to give it a sense of drama and excitement so I want to paint it PINK in a color by Benjamin Moore called Razzle Dazzle or Peony. Both are gorgeous. Look at this image, should I take that leap and do it? My mom thinks I am crazy to do something that bright and deep. At the end of the day I will be the one living there and is just paint color, we can break up and the commitment is over, LOL.

I would like to do something similar like this for the entryway. Here is the Razzle Dazzle color by Benjamin Moore. Interior Designer Jonathan Bergere did an amazing job with this Brooklyn Brownstone.

Now I want some PINK chairs too!

This is another picture I found that I just love as I began to love love and incorporate the color pink in my apartment. I've been trying to figure out why I am loving Pink so much lately. Maybe it is because I want to feel like a Princess and it will be my first apartment solo. I love love that wallpaper too.

More Pink. Loving the Upholstered headboard and Cushioned Stools and lets not forget my favorite detail...monogram sheets! PURE LUXURY

I am loving the shape of this headboard too! I am going to do my own DIY headboard. It will be my first project and I just can't wait. I will do a posting just on headboards this week.

I love the eclectic mix of this room. From the French style chairs to the Moorish Style stools/accent tables to the turquoise lamps.

I am so in love with anything lucite. I guess I just love the airy and transparent feel to it. I am in dire need of a lucite table for my living room and a Starck Ghost chair for my vanity in my closet. I personally love the art work..I "Wish you were here", so romantic. If you look closely, you will see that next to the door opening there is a translucent lucite Screen and vanity. How amazing is that!!!!!

Peony6

Have a wonderful day everyone. I would leave you with one of my favorite flowers, Peonies.

  everyone.

  1. Wow, good for you, finding an apartment in NYC with three bedrooms! I love interior design as well, but unfortunately lack the talent to imagine how furniture would look like in a certain space or how to create certain effects. I love the different examples given here, especially the pink ones. Stam's apartment is incredible... that door itself is a piece of art. Can't wait to see more once you've started on your place!

  9. I'm thinking pink too! I was the one assigned to fix my sister's apartment in New York. I prefer pink, light blue and white shades for her apartment interiors to create a vibrant ambiance. I'm glad Mom will give her lots of throw pillows.
